Yes: Because there are so many different causes of kidney disease, and some are reversible, it's hard to answer this question with a simple yes or no. If it's due to a known disease and the kidneys have declined over time, then the answer is usually yes due to the damage. If it is a brand new issue, and due to some inflammatory conditions, then the answer might be "no" because some meds could help.
