Rod cells: Night vision is control by the rod cells. You may have weaker rod cells function in that side? Or you may have cataract which filter outs light. Its less likely you have cataract in your age unless you have history of trauma to that side , steroid use or smoking.

This happens once in a while my vision turns black but I can see very well I don't wear glasses like at night when it's dark and ur eyes are adjusting?
What might cause your eyes to catch the light in the dark at night? I see clear circles in my vision in the dark, but if I turn my head quickly, the edges catches whatever light is in the dark room. What could be causing this - cataracts? Glaucoma?
