Depends on: what test is done. A blood test may be positive in 5-7 days and urine test may take 7-10 days. In general it is better to wait about 5 days after a missed period to do home test. Use first morning urine and follow the instruction in the kit carefully. A negative result from a test done too early is not reliable.
