Yes: There have been studies showing fomite transmission in girls sharing panties. I don't know of any directly done on sponges and such but it seems likely that there would be some risk there. Be safe.

Unlikely: Transmission is generally from skin to skin contact. However , a wet towel recently used by an infected person could potentially spread infection to another individual. It is best not to use others towels or sponges.
