Not uncommon: Irregular bleeding is a common side-effect of Depo-Provera. It is usually better with the 2nd shot and gone by the third and you don't have any bleeding from then on but a small % of patients never get to the point where they don't bleed and just continue having the irregular bleeding. You do have reliable contraception even if you are having the irregular bleeding as long as u take it on time.
