OTC yeast med: The most common reason for severe itching in this area is a yeast infection. They often occur with a discharge but not always. An over-the-counter antifungal such as Monistat-3 or GyneLotrimin (clotrimazole) would probably treat that effectively. The source of the infection is inside the vagina, so treating inside as well as out is necessary. If this does not work, you need to see a Gyn or your FP
