Need an ultrasound!: while such pains are not uncommon in early pregnancy, one serious concern is the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy where the pregnancy is by in the correct location. If you haven't had one, you need an ultrasound right away to check to make sure the pregnancy is in the correct location. An ectopic pregnancy can be life threatening and needs to be ruled out immediately.
