Great question.: This is a complicated subject that people spend their entire careers on - what makes a good study/clinical trial? It depends on many things: what type of study is done, funding source, if the results are clinically significant or just statistically sig, how is the data analyzed, etc. If there's a particular study you see in the news, your doctor might be able to help clarify the take home points.
