Not dangerous: Possibly less effective. If it's been stored as directed it might still be quite fine for a long time past the date. Medications if stored away from heat, light, and moisture are usually good at least one year after exp dates. It's mostly about the mfg being protected against law suits. Don't be afraid - just prepared for a bit less relief. Do not take more than directed to make up for this!

Not recommended: You should never use expired medicine. As it gets old, the chemicals can break down and produce undesired effects or the medication is no longer effective.
