About 1.5 tspn: So a 38 y/o pt weighs about 16-17 kg and the dose of benadryl (diphenhydramine) is 0.5 to 1.0 mg /kg every 12 hrs or so. So pt should take about 10 to 15 mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine). Liquid benadryl (diphenhydramine) comes 12.5 mg/5ml. Have pt take 6 ml for a dose of 15 mg. Using ml makes the dose more precise.
