I have an ileostomy, can i get appendicitis?

Appendicitis?: Typically, the appendix, along with all or most of the colon and rectum, is removed at the same time as the ileostomy is created. If the appendix was left in place, it could become inflamed and result in appendicitis.

Perhaps: It depends if you had your appendix removed. Most times when other abdominal surgery is done, if it is practical the appendix is removed. You would need to find this out from your surgeon or operative report. The appendix is located on the cecum so it would not directly be related to your ileostomy.

Yes: Unless you have had your appendix taken out, anything is possible.
