A member asked:

When should my new born get his hepatitis b shot if he didn't get it at the hospital b4 discharge?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At your next visit: Unless you had Hep B in the past, some docs prefer to start this at their two week follow-up visit to keep all the vaccines well documented in a single chart. It is hard sometimes to track down the hospital record when you are trying to verify the shot. That said, I always try to give it within 12 hrs of birth. That's how the original vaccine work was done/validated.
