Probably.: Some mild cramping (without bleeding) in early pregnancy is not uncommon, but severe pain is concerning for the possibility of ectopic pregnancy (implantation of the baby somewhere other than in the uterus), which is an emergency. In the case of mild cramps, staying hydrated may help. If they persist, you may also want to be checked for a urinary tract infection.
