Calm and relax: Sedation is the use of medications to calm and relax a patient prior to and during a dental procedure. Sedation may be obtained by three routes. Receiving mediation through inhalation (in the form of gas). Oral sedation are medications that are swallowed. The IV route involves sedative drug given intravenously.
