A member asked:

What supports the spinal vertebrae after a microdiscectomy when most of the disk material is removed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Microdisectomy: The disc space will collapse a bit and can fuse, this is an area where little support is needed after this type of surgery. There are some neurosurgeons placing replacement discs in the space but that has not become overly popular at this time.
