A member asked:

What else can i do for my colonoscopy if i can't drink the golytely (polyethylene glycol)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Enema: The purpose of the Golytely (polyethylene glycol) is to clean the bowel so that on passing the scope the endocopist can define small lesions with no obstruction from retained stool. The Golytely (polyethylene glycol) absorbs water into the bowel acting as a cleansing agent. Any replacement will suffice, that is by an oral intake free of roughage for several days, clear liquid diet 2-3 days before, the use of Haleys MO and a Fleets enema
