A member asked:

What is the treatment for quaternary syphilis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IV Penicillin.: Late infections need IV penicillin for at least 10 days. If the patient is allergic Ceftriaxone can be used. Other kinds of late disease may be treated with once-weekly intramuscular penicillin g for three weeks. If allergic, Doxycycline or tetracycline may be used, for a longer duration. These treatments can stop further progression, but not fully reverse damage already done.
