In theory....: In theory, medications like doxycycline may be less effective when taken with anything containing calcium and other minerals, On the other hand, taking it on an empty stomach can cause stomach pain. To be on the safe side, avoid taking it with dairy products, antacids & mineral supplements. Taking it 1 hour after a meal will prevent both of these issues.

It doesn't matter: There is slightly reduced absorption of doxycycline when taken with antacids, calcium, or high calcum foods such as dairy products. But the stress is on "slightly", almost certainly not enough to make any difference in its effectiveness. In other words, don't worry about it -- just take it with the frequency and for the duration as prescribed and don't worry about the details.
