May be an infection: If you are still wearing the lenses, put some rewetting drops or artificial tears in and remove the lenses. Sometimes these could be symptoms of lens overwear. If there is continued pain, redness, blurred vision, discharge, or light sensitivity, see an ophthalmologist immediately because this could be a corneal ulcer. Don't wear the lenses for at least a day, even if the symptoms resolve.

See your eye doctor: Eye infections are one of the most common reasons for an urgent office visit. Please remove your contacts and wear glasses until you can see your doctor. Wearing contacts overnight is the most common reason for contact-related infections. If you have a sudden change in vision, severe pain, or fever and can't see your ophthalmologist right away, go to the ER.
