DEFINITIONS: Peripheral neuropathy is generic term for abnormal nerves in limbs. Many of these involve large fibers which can cause weakness, numbness, imbalance. The small fiber neuropathy presents with pain, decrease in pin and temperature sensation and caused by a limited number of conditions. Both large and small fibres may be involved in peripheral nerve disorder.

Not much: Most small fiber neuropathies are actually peripheral polyneuropathy.
