Breastfeeding: generally when you are breast feeding your prolactin levels are high which would inhibit your periods so do not sweat it out if still in doubt talk to your OB

Breastfeeding: You can rely on breast feeding for contraception for about 42 days after you deliver. After that you could ovulate, so if you don't want to be pregnant, you should plan to use contraception. Unfortunately, you ovulate and could get pregnant before a period would occur.
