How long does it take for bottled water to go bad after opening?

Probably never: Water is water. There may be some theory that if in a plastic bottle and exposed to extreme heat then some leaching of chemicals from the plastic bottle could contaminate the water with harmful chemicals?? I invite opinions on this.
