A member asked:

What are the tests for clostridium difficile infections?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stool test: The most commonly used tests for c diff are two different stool tests. One test looks for the unique toxin which c diff produces that causes the diarrhea. The other test searches for the gene (dna) that is specific to c diff and encodes the information to produce the toxin.
