Pseudotumor cerebri: To make a diagnosis of pseudotumor cerebri an indvidual needs an eye exam including visual field testing and dilated eye exam to look at the optic nerves. In addition an imaging study of the head preferably an MRI scan is necessary and a spinal tap is needed to measure the opening pressure of the spinal fluid and analyze the spinal fluid to make sure it is normal in composition.
