Newborn skin: Any oils may cause clogged pores in a newborn, other than that it is safe. You may find the baby gets a rash from it however, and then you will have to stop using it. I prefer to use warm water, dove sensitive skin soap and perhaps a bit of aquaphor or vaseline.

Coconut oil: is likely a safe moisturizer, but discontinue use if symptoms of hypersensitivity develop (such as rash).
