How to treat herpes in the throat?

See a dermatologist: First determine if it is herpes or something else. DO THIS TODAY. If it is herpes, the sooner you get treated the better. Oral acyclovir and oral valacyclovir are very effective. But the longer you delay the less effective they are.

HSV: It depends on the severity - oral or IV acyclovir is usually the medication of choice. Be sure to get blood tests for HIV if you have this diagnosis.

Herpes: Please see a doctor. If you have a confirmed diagnosis of oral or pharyngeal herpes, you need to be treated by a physician with antivirals.
