A member asked:

What are the risks of conventional vaccines? are recombinant ones better?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Old vs new technolog: The whole cell pertussis,an early vaccine, was basically dead germs that were broken into pieces and given. This gave great protection, but almost all infants had high fevers by the 2nd or 3rd dose, and it could never be giver after age 6. Today's pertussis is a synthetic replica of part of the germ. Its "clean" origin produces almost no side effects and the vaccine can be given at any age
