Increased infection: There is an increased risk for infections if you have intercourse in the immediate time frame after delivery. There cervix typically is not fully closed and this can allow more bacteria into the uterus and upper genital tract. It's better to wait 6 weeks following delivery after your physician has examined you and given you the go ahead.
