If you have possible: sciatica you can see your family doctor. If he/she thinks you need specialized treatment you will be given a referral. Peace and good health.

No: Sciatica = pain going from your low back down your leg. True weakness in the leg, bowel or bladder incontience, or fever associated with the pain is a potential emergency and should be evaluated in the ER. Routine sciatica should be treated with rest, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.), massage, stretching, low-back strengthening, and time.

Primary care: Your primary care physician (PCP) can help you to manage sciatica. Visits to the emergency room are appropriate for conditions that are threatening to life or limb. Doctors at urgent care can help if you don't have a primary care physician.
