ACE: Ace inhibitors like Enalapril work by blocking the effects of angiotension ii. They decrease the pressure in the kidneys (block constriction of efferent arterioles). They block the release of aldosterone thereby decreasing sodium retention and blood pressure. They improve renal protein kinase c production. They decrease proteinuria, especially in patients with diabetic renal disease.
