Brown discharge: is usually older blood being cleaned from the uterus. It can be the way a period is starting out. You may have an imbalance of estrogen & progesterone that is causing a little bit of menstrual irregularity. Take care.

Old blood: This is the endometrium breaking down prior to flow with old blood and debris which is usually normal.
