Sometimes.: Celexa (citalopram) has anticholinergic component. It can cause urinary retention. Lower the dose and if problem persists you might need to change the medicine.

Not common, BUT...: it can occur. The following Urological Side Effects are taken from the package insert of Celexa: ... Urinary System Disorders - Frequent: polyuria. Infrequent: micturition frequency, urinary incontinence, urinary retention, dysuria. Rare: facial edema, hematuria, oliguria, pyelonephritis, renal calculus, renal pain. Discuss your Side Effects with your treating Dr. Good luck.
