It depends: What are her other health problems? Chronic airway obstruction can be caused by copd, chronic bronchitis, sleep apnea, morbid obesity, or other factors. The treatment would depend on the underlying cause. Even a very enlarged thyroid gland can lead to airway obstruction. Treatment and prognosis depend on exactly what your mother's problems are.
