A member asked:

Can mri or ultrasound detect improper healing of the achilles tendon and surrounding paratenon?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Depending on the person doing ultrasound, his or her technical ability on utilizing ultrasound. I would prefer MRI and done by a experienced radiologist. It can take some time to heal and this area is poorly vascularized .
