A member asked:

Is macular amyloid curable by glycolic acid peels?

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

No: Macular amyloid is related to age-related macular degeneration, a condition in the retina. Glycolic acid peels of the skin will not help.

No, see Dermatology: Macular amyloidosis of the skin is not related to the eye and is the commonest form of primary localized cutaneous amyloidosis. I believe the previous answers have been confusing drusen (shown in photo) of the macula of the eye (retina) with macular amyloidosis of the skin, a dermatological condition. Not my field, but macular amyloidosis is deep in the skin and a peel removes only superficially.
