A member asked:

Hi my grandmas heart valve has closed 8 cm.she is ober 80.does she need operation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need more info: Depends on which valve, what pressures and blood flows are like on each side of the valve and throughout the heart and lungs, what your grandma's activity level and symptoms are like, and how healthy she is for her age. Her cardiologist (heart doctor) should be able to give a detailed explanation of the pros & cons of all options in her particular situation, so you can all decide together.
