Progesterone shots: Injections of progesterone can work well for birth control, but at 41 your should at least take a break from this, as it can cause brittle bones (osteoporosis or osteopenia) which can lead to fractures with falls. You can start an oral standard birth control pill immediately. Don't go back to the progesterone shots for at least three more years. You can continue the oral bcp's until you are 54-56.
