A member asked:

Can my husband's chewing tobacco cause a bladder infection or uti?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: There is no relationship between chewing tobacco and urinary tract infection of which I am aware. It can do lots of other nasty stuff, from stained teeth, heartburn, bad breath to mouth and throat cancer, esophagitis, gastritis and even GI bleeding. If you or your husband have urinary tract problems, chewing tobacco is not the cause.
