Not recommended: Antibiotics and combined Alcohol use are never recommended as the Z pak (azithromycin) is likely not going to be as effective for chlamydia use. My rationale is that Z pak (azithromycin) is metabolized in the liver by Cytochrome p450 and Alcohol increases this same enzyme that degrades a Z pak (azithromycin). No it won't fail: but I wonder if there might be a drinking problem lurking back there, and whether the unsafe sex you had that exposed you to chlamydia might have been influenced by a few beers, or perhaps more than a few. I am always concerned when people ask whether they can drink on drug X, or after procedure y. In my experience, many of these folks either have, or are on their way to having, a problem.
