A member asked:

Is it possible for a women to start menopause as early as 26? my friend said that's when her grandma started it after she had her 2 kids.. possible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: It's possible to start menopause at age 26. However, this is not normal and it's called premature ovarian insufficiency (failure) ie the cessation of ovarian function prior to age 40. Tests should be done to search for a reason and to evaluate for autoimmune adrenal insufficiency which can be fatal.
