What are the causes of dysmenorhoea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dysmenorrhea: It is caused by the shedding of the lining of the uterus coordinated by your menstrual cycle and the specific hormone changes. There are muscles in the lining of the uterus that contract to cause it to shrink back to normal size and shed the contents. In some people this cramping is painful and in other it is not. The difference is mostly due to genetics. Did your mom have painful cramps?
