Orthopedic consult!: Most knee sprains heal pretty well in 1-2 weeks. If you have "water on the knee" or fluid in the joint space, then this could indicate torn ligaments a/o cartilage. The inside portion of the knee contains an especially fragile complex (terrible triad of o'donahue) in which the medial collateral, the medial meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament tear as one unit. This injury requires arthoscopy.
