Less Than 300ng/dL : 1) a healthy 40 y/o male is expected to have a total testosterone level between 450-900 ng/dl {mean of 667 ng/dl}. 2) the consensus of the endocrine society states that 300 ng/dl is the cut-off for the diagnosis of hypogonadism {assuming there are no other associated lab abnormalities} 3} i recommend you seek the advice and continue your workup with an endocrinologist.

Vit D & Muscle: Start by supplementing vitamin d at 2000 iu daily and increasing muscle mass through weight training. I would check my testosterone in 3 months and see iif it is improved. To increase muscle mass, an individual needs at least 1 g protein per kilogram of lean mass - shooting for 70 g or greater daily. If this does not improve your levels to normal, t supplementation may be needed.

A Wide Range: A morning testosterone level for men less than 60 ranges from 350-1200 ng/dl. On average men between 50-59 are around 550. Low t results in many issues: decreased sex drive, moodiness, depression, fatigue and weight gain. Am erections and normal erections suffer. If you are experiencing these symptoms, get blood tests to check for causes: lh, prolactin and free/total testosterone.

Yes: There are many over the counter supplements that can alter your hormone balance and lead to loss of sperm production, sex drive and other nasty complications. If you're worried about your t levels, see a doctor and get checked.

Testosterone: If you have been shown to have a low testosterone level you will need replacement therapy. At age 41 low testosterone is not very common and a visit to a urologist may be needed. In the meantime your doctor will discuss the various testosterone replacement options of which there are many. The least expensive, by far, is the testosterone injection starting at 200 mg every two weeks.
