The only way to know: if he requires antibiotics for "strep" throat is by positive results on a Quick-Strep test or throat culture. If he has Strep, he must take all of the medicine as prescribed in order not to get rheumatic fever, kidney inflammation or other complications of some strains of streptococcus., Take him to his doctor today.
