Sore throat: This is most likely a peritonillar abscess or a severe strep throat. He should be evaluated by a physician for antibiotics and possible drainage of abscess

The only way to know: if he requires antibiotics for "strep" throat is by positive results on a Quick-Strep test or throat culture. If he has Strep, he must take all of the medicine as prescribed in order not to get rheumatic fever, kidney inflammation or other complications of some strains of streptococcus., Take him to his doctor today.
