Hard to know: Hmmm. Depends what the wet substance was. It's easy to infect eyes with just about anything that can call conjunctival mucosa (eye membranes) moistened by tear fluid, home. Remember, some microbes survive even on dry surfaces (staph, enveloped viruses) which means theoretically, you could infect your eyes even before touching that fluid. Infections can damage vision. Get prompt care if concerned.
