Get checked: These are virus that cause cold sores and genital sores. You can however have HSV 1 on genitals and HSV 2 virus on the lips. Both can be treated but can reoccur.

Similar: HSV 1 is normally found on the lips as in cold sores. HSV 2 is usually found on the genetalia as in Herpes, but either could be either place, just not as common. Other than the genetic variation between them, there isn't much difference except where they prefer to establish latency and recur.
