Get checked: Sometimes darkening or hyper pigmentation can be due to hormonal changes in stress hormones like Cortisol. There can be other findings based on physical exam. See your doctor as soon as you can. Cheers

It does not particularly hurt just red and a bit itchy. Its at the corners of the mouth more on the skin than on the lips. Cold sore and allergex cream does not work.
