Urinalysis: Chlamydia often causes an urethritis, which typically causes leukocytes to appear in urine. So, in a purely nonspecific way, the urine sample could reveal leukocytes but not reveal why or cause -- importantly, genital tissue can harbor chlamydia without urethritis, particularly in females - and the UA then would not reveal any abnormality -- so the UA is not a reliable screen for Chlamydia.

No, ...: Standard urinalysis is tested with clean-catch mid-stream of urine so the pus cells from urethritis could not be detected. Hence, no chlamydia-related finding could be seen. Besides, no specific test for chlamydia (NAAT) is done. So, standard urinalysis is meant to tell us if there is suspicion for inflammation or infection above the prostate urethra (bladder, ureters, & kidneys). More? Ask Doc.

No: no Urinalysis may shows white blood cells but unlikely to show the organism....microscopic exam of a penile DISCHARGE is necessary as well as culture for definitive diagnosis. USUALLY IF YOUR PARTNER HAS IT YOU DO TOO..WHEN IN DOUBT GET TREATMENT A LOT OF TESTS NOT NECESSARY! Hope this helps Dr Z
