RH factor: Rh is a signpost on the cells in the body. Your wife's cells don't have this signpost. If the baby's cells do, her body knows these cells are not hers. Her body will remember this and in a subsequent pregnancy her immune system may attack the baby's cells with the Rh signpost. This is prevented by giving your wife a Rhogam injection to hide this signpost from her immune system. Best wishes.
