A member asked:

My son has pachygyria. what does that mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pachygyria: This term, also called mild lissencephaly, refers to the surface appearance of the brain. Instead of having lots of ridges and grooves, the gyri are flattened. This can occur alone, or in association with other medical problems with varying degrees of developmental delay. Treatment is supportive (occupational and/or physical therapies, medications, feeding programs, etc.). Hope this helps.
